Mobile film screenings address survivors’ psychological trauma

Screenings of WE WANT (U) TO KNOW, supported by Movies that Matter, were featured in last Wednesday's Phnom Penh Post! In the article, reporter Roth Meas says, "In a novel approach to dealing with the psychological traumas left by the Khmer Rouge regime, the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) has been awarded a grant to organise 'mobile screenings' of a film based on the experiences of survivors as a way of opening up discussions on the issue."

We Want (U) To Know reveals how Cambodians are struggling to cope with painful memories at the time of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. This is a participatory film. Villagers take the camera in their hands to document what they have gone through during and after the Khmer Rouge era. Through sharing their stories with younger generations, survivors are breaking thirty years of silence and initiating a powerful discourse about the challenges of the present.
