26th November 2009 Screenings at Pannasastra University, Phnom Penh
To coincide with the final submissions in "the Duch Trial," The Khmer Institute of Democracy (KID) in cooperation with the German Development Service (DED) and Pannasastra University is hosting a special screening of its Khmer Rouge film entitled "We Want (U) to Know" on Thursday 26th November 2009, at 6:30 pm at Pannasastra University - Southern Campus(Srey Dim Conference Hall) located at: No.184, Maha Vithei Preah Norodom (South of Independence Monument)
Co-Directed by Italian-German Director Ms Ella Pugliese and KID's own Mr Nou Va, "We Want [U] to Know" is an experiment in "participatory film-making" whereby the villagers of Kratie (Kratie), Sot Nikum (Siem Reap) and Tnol Lok (Takeo) pick-up the camera, boom and microphone to help to document their own personal stories from the Democratic Kampuchea Era (1975-1979).
The villagers not only work behind-the-scenes, they are also the stars of the film in front of the camera by providing anecdotes and re-enactments of the traumatic past. The evening will commence with reflections on Case 001 by our panel of experts and S-21 survivors before the film is screened at 7 pm.
